      NEW HAMPSHIRE CHIEF'S OF POLICE SECRET ARIES ASSOCIATION

      Guidelines for Scholarship Consideration

      1. Eligibility

        1. Member of NHCOPSA.
        2. Immediate family member of any NHCOPSA member.
        3. Family member of a certified, NH law enforcement officer in good standing.
        4. Others as deemed qualified by the Scholarship Committee.

      2. Considerations

        1. Request application from Scholarship Committee.
        2. Submit application to Committee, containing all necessary information by deadline.

      3. Deadline for Application

          A. April l for semester starting the following September.

      4. Obligation of successful candidate

          A. Upon ratification by the Association members, successful candidate shall cause scholarship acceptance letter to be forwarded to the school, indicating that portion of tuition will be paid upon successful completion of course.

          B. Successful candidate must forward or cause to be forwarded proof of grade showing successful completion of the courses and a tuition bill from their respective college to the Committee Chair, for payment directly to the school. If the student fails to complete the course, payment of scholarship will be voided and the candidate will be responsible for payment of said amount to the school.

          C. In the event of exigent circumstances, notify the Chairman of the need for alternative reimbursement. Such exigent circumstances will be discussed with Scholarship Committee before a decision for alternate reimbursement is made.

          D. Persons awarded scholarship monies and meeting the obligations in this section must have submitted a request for disbursement of funds by the date of the scholarship deadline the following year. If the request is not received, the funds will be returned to the scholarship account, and made available to future applicants. [amended by vote of the Association 03/09/07].

      5. Responsibilities of Scholarship Committee

        1. Send applications to all who request one.
        2. Acknowledge receipt of such applications.
        3. Review all applications received.
        4. Make a recommendation to the Association for selected recipient to be voted on by membership.
        5. Limit of two (2) scholarships per applicant.
        6. Notify all candidates as to their final status.

      6. Amount of Award

          A. Each year, a minimum of one (1) scholarship shall be awarded, based on the amount of funds available.
